I'm Vasile Crudu. I wrote my first line of production code in 2007 and worked my way from freelance developer to senior engineer at a US firm to founding my own software company. Two decades in, I still care about the same thing: building software — and the teams behind it — to last.
A few things I won't budge on
Evolve, don't rewrite.
A total rewrite freezes value while competitors sprint ahead, throws away years of hard-won bug fixes, and trades known problems for unproven ones. Modernize legacy incrementally — keep the lights on the whole way.
Eat the elephant one bite at a time.
Big modernization is never one heroic leap. It's a sequence of small, shippable, reversible steps — each one safe to deploy on a Friday afternoon.
Senior engineers, not seat-fillers.
The teams I put together own outcomes, not tickets. People who ask the right questions early are worth more than twice the headcount that needs managing.
MoldStud
In 2018 I founded MoldStud and grew it from its first hire to a team of 80+ engineers across Europe and CIS. I built it around one conviction I've held since my own days as a developer: hire senior people, give them real ownership, and treat them well enough that they want to stay.
It's the kind of place I would have wanted to work at early in my career — and today it serves product teams worldwide.
